About The Rose

Many years ago, I was struggling with my identity,my purpose and value in life. It was a time in my life that was filled with much uncertainty and indecision.
I was seeking for something to anchor myself to and found a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Now, before you turn away thinking this will be some religious article – it is not!
It is simply the story of how The Winning Woman came to be, and why this rose was chosen as the icon.
Being from the boomer generation, the doors to the world were not readily opened, and with limited higher education, opportunities for women like myself were few. I have always been a visionary, a thinker, a voracious reader and creative. The thought of being limited because my lack of a higher degree only fueled the desire to prove myself in every endeavor I engaged with. Thus, the burning desire, the passion to be someone, to do something extraordinary, to prove to the world that I could rise above the rules imposed on me gave me the impetus to pursue business and become a successful businesswoman.
In the midst of all that, my life came crashing down, and fell apart. It was during that time, that I discovered, my life was built on unstable ground and needed change. Yes, I found Jesus, and dug down to find out what that all was about. I discovered that He actually loves me, and wants me to be all I can be. He created me so that I could be a winner! His Winning Woman! He was the emancipator of women during His days on Earth, and continues to remind me throughout the Bible with great examples of women leaders, bold women of faith, and women who gave, served and became winning women.
His ultimate sacrifice of love for me, was the cross. And He gave me the gift of the Sterling Rose to remind me of His Love for me. You see, He wore a crown of thorns, yet, He gave me a thorn-less crown. The Sterling Rose represents the following to me; the stem without thorns means that all my pain, all my anguish and hurts were removed and put on HIM. The sweet fragrance of the Sterling Rose is the sweetness of His delight and love for me. The color of the Sterling Rose represents the softness and gentleness of the change from the blood He shed to the shade of glowing in His Presence.
Having received such an awesome, life-changing gift compelled me to think of how I could share this with other women who also need the affirmation, acceptance, empowerment, and love. For years, I wrote, worked, and continued to think of how I could implement what He gave me.
Once again, in a place of loneliness, like the desert, separated from many of my loved ones, I found myself crying out to HIM for something. It was then He gave me The Winning Woman; it was time to bring it to life and share it.
Monika is blessed with an awesome marriage to the greatest gift of a husband God has given her, along with 5 children and 6 grandchildren. She values each new relationship God brings her way and hopes she can share the message of the rose with each person she meets on her journey in life.
